We are happy to announce that our credit card processing partners are now certified to process EMV transactions using Chip and Signature technologies. As Justin Ziegler says in this press release:
“Mercury has been very aggressive in assisting the integration channel to deliver a full suite of payment security options to their merchant base, including point-to-point encryption, tokenization and now EMV. This makes Mercury the ideal partner to lead the charge.”
The initial release supports the Verifone vx805 using a Chip and Signature solution both using off-site Mercury encryption or using Datacap’s NETePay solution which will support other processors as they become EMV certified. We expect additional devices to be EMV- supported soon by our partners, such as the Ingenico iSC250, which includes signature capture. We expect support for Chip and Pin to be announced sometime in 2016.
At Smyth Retail, we already have the certified EMV software on the bench and are testing the processes. It is scheduled for version 5.2 and will be available in time to meet the October “Mandate“.
Version 5.1, to be announced within weeks, supports both the Verifone vx805 and the Ingenico iSC250 (yet to be EMV certified) and are perfect devices for immediate implementation of End to End encryption (more important to prevent serious breaches to the card processing environment). These devices also support Near Field Communications (NFC) meaning that we will support mobile wallets such as Apple Pay® and Google Wallet® this summer!
